Beautiful Louisiana hybrid iris (Iridaceae) in a spring garden with a vintage texture. This mixed media photograph is from the gardens at Smith College. It began as a photo that I took during one of my reunions.
These days, the computer is my darkroom, and while I love the purity of straight photography, I also love experimenting well after I have clicked the shutter. I added textures and filters in various layers, blending them together in Photoshop and other programs to create an image that has a fine texture, yet still remains a photograph.
It looks great printed on canvas or watercolor paper due to the texture. It is always a lovely gift since these beautiful flowers will last a lifetime as a print or on a throw pillow. Printed on blank cards it is perfect for thank you notes or just to surprise someone with a handwritten letter.
