Description
Newport Harbor Lighthouse known locally as the Goat Island Light House, Newport, Rhode Island, USA with a gull perched on top and the Clayborne Pell Newport Bridge on the horizon. The 29 foot tall octagonal granite lighthouse, painted white with a green beacon, was activated in 1842, replacing an earlier light. The lighthouse was automated in 1963, renovated in 1986, and in 2005 the current fixed green light was added. It is still an active aid to navigation.
