Artist's Description

The Lighthouse on Roosevelt Island, New York, NY. An urban lighthouse, designed by engineer and self-trained architect James Renwick, Jr., the Gothic style octagonal stone lighthouse was completed in 1873. It was built with gray gneiss quarried on the island mostly by convict labor from the penitentiary there. Renwick, the supervising engineer for the Distributing Reservoir in NYC for the Croton water supply system, also designed such notable buildings as the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C, Main Building at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York, and both Grace Church and St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Manhattan.

A travel, editorial and fine art photographer by profession, my images seek to shine a light on the reality around me and to evoke an emotional response. My work has been shown in galleries throughout the New York metropolitan area, including at the Museum of the City of New York and hang in the collections of private, institutional and corporate collectors.
