Macro of a lovely mophead hydrangea flower blooming in a cottage garden. The hydrangea macrophylla is also known as French hydrangea, bigleaf or big leaf hydrangea, and hortensia. Part of a series in blue, pink and purple.
Mophead hydrangea grow everywhere in the continental United States and even along the more temperate southern coast of Alaska.
This image started as a 61 megapixel photograph taken near my home in Westchester County, New York in the Hudson Valley. As such a large image, it can easily be blown up to 6 feet long, the longest print size available here. If you have a large lobby or hallway, you can easily fill the space with this set. It also makes a lovely single large image or a set printed smaller over a couch.
The filters and textures give this mixed media fine art photograph a vintage style, and yet the macro detail gives it a contemporary feel as well. Great for any decor from a traditional home to modern office.

They have been published in Smithsonian and Coastal Living magazines, in The Guardian newspaper, in books published by National Geographic, Fodors, DK and Workman Publishing and in dozens of other...
