Artist's Description

A beautiful green cinnamon fern, Osmundastrum cinnamomenum. It is native to North America from Texas and Florida to as far north as Newfoundland. This one grew in a park near my home in New York. The cinnamon fern is symbolic of spirituality, success and healing. Like all ferns, it has complex leaves or fronds, called megaphylls. It is in the family Osmunda, also known as the royal fern family. There are over 10,000 species of fern.
