Description
Great spangled fritillary butterfly, Speyeria cybele; also called silverspots for the silvery spots on its hindwings. Its open wings spread wide are seen from above as it pollinates a purple coneflower, Echinacea purpurea.
This joyful mixed media work began as a photograph I took at Rockefeller State Park Preserve near my home in Westchester County, New York. It has been transformed with digital watercolor brushes to create a contemporary image in soothing shades of green, joyful pink and golden orange to enhance your home decor. The healing powers of nature also make this a perfect mixed media image for the waiting room of any healthcare professional.
This is part of a series of new digital mixed media art that I have been working on this summer, incorporating flowers and butterflies, to create dreamy images that I hope will bring you joy.
