Artist's Description

Wood violet, Viola sororia, also known as the Common blue violet, Common meadow violet, Hooded violet, or Missouri violet.
This beautiful perennial plant grows in meadows and gardens throughout its native range of eastern North America. This wildflower popped up in my New York garden.
