Description
The golden hour view across the sea, Black Point Beach, Niantic, East Lyme, Connecticut with a faded nostalgic vintage feel with a distressed look and texture.
I love experimenting with my photographs, which can include playing with the color to bring out a very different look from the bright and colorful image that I photographed. Here, I added a vintage color profile in Lightroom, and then used one of the Nik Analog Efex Pro 2 filters to give it just the exact vintage sepia color and feel I was after. Next, it was time to take it into Photoshop where I added a couple of different textures and various blend modes. At one point I had over a dozen layers!
I have been enjoying this particular beach for at least a portion of every summer since 1969 but the feeling of this photograph predates the Kodachrome film of that era, evoking a time well before I was born. I like combining this old-fashioned treatment with modern photography - a close look at those beautiful beachfront summer homes and you know they are from the 21st century. I love the juxtaposition of the old and the new. I hope you do too.
This is one of my most recent photographs of the beach in Niantic taken since purchasing a 42MP Sony A7rii and it can be blown up huge since the camera produces native files that are over 7900 pixels on the long size. So, if you are looking for wall art to fill a large space, this is it. It will easily look great at six feet by four feet.
