Description
Sweet fawn in a thicket, white-tailed deer, Odocoileus virginianus, cute baby animal, at Rockwood Hall park in the Hudson Valley, Westchester County, New York, August 2021.
This sweet little baby animal would be perfect in a child's room as well as on the wall of any nature lover.
Usually skittish, this fawn did not seem fazed by me but continued foraging and then looked at me with more curiosity than fear.
White tail deer are common from as far north as he Yukon south to Bolivia. This subspecies, Odocoileus virginianus borealis, northern whitetail deer, one of the larger examples of the species, is prevalent throughout New York State, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota in the United States and Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, and Quebec in Canada.
