Early spring in the Hudson River Valley as raindrops begin to fall, Swan Lake, Rockefeller State Park Preserve, Mount Pleasant, Westchester County, New York, USA, May 2019.
Rockefeller State Park is a beautiful area near where I live and one of my favorite places to walk as well as to take photographs. Sometimes, it is that very last photograph that I snap that makes it all worthwhile. As I was walking on a warm but overcast day earlier this week, I heard the gentle rustle of the rain in the leaves and saw raindrops begin to fall in the water. I took one last photograph before I tucked my camera into my bag and headed back to the car.
Being out in nature is always a reward in itself, but I love it when that very last shot is the winner.
I feel like this photograph represents balance, between both light and dark as well as between the branches of the oak tree and its newly formed leaves that hangs over Swan Lake and the log sticking out of the water and its reflection. So, in addition to making this available as fine art prints and greeting cards, I have also made it available as a yoga mat. Namaste.
