Description
Port Clinton Light Station, Port Clinton, Ohio.
This lighthouse is only 20 feet tall. It is called a pepperpot, aka pepper pot, or salt shaker lighthouse because its shape resembles a salt or pepper shaker with a square tapered base, a single gallery, and a square lantern. It is a rare style in the US, but is more common in Canada and Scotland. Built in 1896, it was one of the earliest light houses on Lake Erie. It used to stand at the foot of the Portage River. It was restored and moved to its present location in 2016.
