Description
Marblehead Lighthouse State Park on Lake Erie, Marblehead, Ohio at twilight in autumn. It is the oldest Great Lakes lighthouse in continuous operation, since the 1920s. This image, taken at the blue hour, that magic time right around sunset, shows beautiful pink and purple clouds and the green lamp of the lighthouse lit up.
This was my first trip to Lake Erie. I always wanted to visit Great Lakes lighthouses since I was intrigued by the idea of seeing these beacons on these inland seas. As an East coast resident my entire life (save for a year spent on the other coast in California), I was amazed to see such a large body of water in the middle of the country. We spent several hours there during the day and then came back for a stunning sunset. It was the most beautiful of the four lighthouses I visited on my trip last fall, but they all were lovely.
