Dream Boat
A canoe floats in the water of the Mill Pond in Sandwich, Massachusetts on Cape Cod. Reflections of clouds in the surface of the water and inside the canoe give this a dreamy feel, evoking memories of travel and a feeling of peace.
This image hung in the Spectrum Grayscale juried exhibition at the Carriage Barn Gallery in New Canaan, Connecticut in 2017.
I had arrived on Cape Cod to visit a college friend who lives in Sandwich. She was not home from work yet so I strolled around the village. There is a beautiful mill from the 17th century in the center of town which has been restored to again grind corn meal. This half submerged canoe was floating in the mill pond. When my friend later saw my photograph, she laughed because it is her canoe!
