Wooden birdhouse in a field at Rockefeller State Park, Pleasantville, NY.
I created this artwork by hand painting with a stylus and pen tablet as well as using other digital tools in Adobe Photoshop, simplifying my original photograph to highlight the charming birdhouse in its bucolic surroundings. Using a stylus, I can layer my paint strokes just as I can when using actual watercolors. The image combines the original photograph as well as digital art, both hand painting and computer generated techniques, hence it is considered digital mixed media, an approach that allows me to use 21st century technology to create traditional artwork.
