Description
The red and white brick Sankaty Lighthouse on Nantucket with autumn colors. The 70 foot tall Sankaty Head lighthouse, built in 1850, was the first lighthouse in Massachusetts with a Fresnel lens, replaced 100 years later with a rotating aerobeacon. In 2007, the Sankaty Head Lighthouse was moved from the edge of an eroding bluff to its current location. It is one of the many beautiful lighthouses that you can visit on a trip to Cape Cod.
