The starting point for all my mixed media work is the click of my camera's shutter. I could have exhibited them with no further intervention, but I decided to have a little more fun and create works that are photographs and something else as well. Some of the simplest images had 12 or more layers before I was through. Often, the primary image is blended with textures I have made by combining photos of things like peeling paint and other surfaces found in my travels, using filters and digital painting techniques to subtly enhance or drastically change the feel of the original image. Romantic Forest Muir Woods is currently one of 20 featured photos on PhotoShelter, which hosts 77,000 photographer web sites. The cover butterflies won Best of Show in a juried competition at the Westchester Professional Photographers Association in 2013. White Night placed first and The Red Kite earned a Merit in in 2012. Big Yellow Taxi took first prize in a competition here on FAA. So, I am encouraged to keep experimenting. Hope you enjoy them!
